Your child can begin swimming at paradise swim as young as 3 months. At that age, and up until 3 years old, we offer baby classes, where a parent is in the water with their child as well as a teacher leading the class. When moving from baby classes to independent group classes, we often see little swimmers panic without their parent in the pool.
To avoid this, we go through many different activities to build trust between the swimmer and their teacher.
Pass to teacher:
When swimmers are in the beginning levels, we do a "pass to teacher". This aims to help the baby feel comfortable separating from their parent.
Jumps to Teacher:
Once little swimmers are confident jumping from the platform to their parent, we try to adjust them to jumping to the teacher. This builds trust between the student and the teacher.
Still, some students once moving into group classes are scared to swim independently with their teacher. At Paradise swim, we encourage and reassure swimmers they are safe in the water with their teacher and hope for parents to do the same.
